Yen’s executive Chinese chef Weng and chef Chin Wong of Shu KL are coming together for a special collaboration.&nbsp;

For two nights only this August, Yen at W Kuala Lumpur brings together two distinctive voices in Chinese cuisine for a collaboration where heritage, memory, and modern craft take centre stage. On 22 and 23 August 2026, Yen’s executive Chinese chef Weng welcomes chef Chin Wong of Shu KL – a recipient of the 2026 Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur &amp; Penang Young Chef Award, to create an exclusive seven-course menu that brings their distinct culinary philosophies into conversation. <o:p></o:p>
More than a meeting of two kitchens, Yen X Shu KL places chef Weng’s precise and restrained interpretation of Cantonese cuisine and heritage alongside chef Chin Wong’s contemporary exploration of the Chinese diaspora, uniting technical mastery, reverence for tradition, and childhood memories that are personally reimagined.<o:p></o:p>

The culinary journey begins with Beginning – a braised peanut tartlet, before moving into Liquid – a deeply layered fish maw broth with matsutake mushrooms and Hokkaido scallop. Delicate yet flavourful, the course reflects the clarity and discipline of Cantonese broth-making while setting the tone for the evening. <o:p></o:p>
Among the highlights is chef Chin Wong’s Yellow Wine, an elegant composition of shellfish, Huā Diāo butter, and ikura, where familiar Chinese flavours are done with finesse. Then Memory pairs jasmine rice bread with Gān Lán Cài butter, to transform it into something evocative and refined. The journey concludes with Sweet Temptations, which showcases chef Weng’s signature milk pudding with dragon fruit and bird’s nest for a refreshing, decadent finish.<o:p></o:p>

Plus, adding another dimension to the experience, a selection of Château Pavie’s Bordeaux rare vintage wines will be available for a surcharge, and thoughtfully paired with the menu. Master sommelier João Pires MS, the vice president of Asia Pacific, for Château Pavie and Perse Latitudes will be guiding guests through the estate’s storied history and celebrated winemaking legacy. <o:p></o:p>
Together, Yen X Shu KL and Château Pavie create an incredible seven-course journey, which beckons epicureans and wine connoisseurs to experience Chinese culinary heritage through a contemporary lens.<o:p></o:p>

The dinner takes place at Yen, W Kuala Lumpur, on 22 and 23 August 2026 from 6pm to 10pm. The menu is priced at MYR398+ per person, with Château Pavie wine pairings available for an additional MYR288+ per person – while exclusive Château Pavie rare vintages will also be available. <o:p></o:p>
