The realm of high jewellery comes alive with the new Sixi&egrave;me Sens par Cartier.

Inanimate objects might be incapable of emotions by design, outside the scope of anthropomorphism, but those rendered with enough gumption may well conjure them in others.
Sixi&egrave;me Sens par Cartier, or Sixth Sense, explores this intriguing notion as it launches into a character study of thousand‐year‐old stones, trompe‐l&rsquo;oeil and graphic patterns, as well as the power of evocation that shall alter the jewellery‐donning ritual into a sensorial experience.

A work of art in every sense of the word, the latest addition to the maison&rsquo;s haute joaillerie canon illustrates soulfulness particular to high jewellery.
All seven showpieces in the docket are nothing alike, unique and unbound by certain traits barring visual excellence, with Cartier&rsquo;s DNA all over them. The familiar undertones that are subtly worked into the collection not only add another layer of depth to each creation but also act as an elusive signature stamp.
&nbsp;Enter the Pixelage necklace. Marked by the vertical geometry of its collar, the piece brings to mind the image of a stealthy panther&mdash;one of the enduring figures in the jeweller&rsquo;s iconography. The wild cat, first spotted in 1914 on a women&rsquo;s wristwatch, lends itself to the necklace as polished onyxes are brought into play to evoke the marbling of its fur, while white, yellow and orange diamonds represent the thickness of its pelt, and its reflections expressed by three golden topazes.

Cartier&rsquo;s reverence for the panther (and nature in general) is beyond skin‐deep. Just last year, the maison announced a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme&nbsp;‐ led The Lion&rsquo;s Share Fund in an effort to tackle the crisis in nature, biodiversity and climate. It&rsquo;s a commendable follow‐up to its most stringent standard operating procedures, among which is the requirement for its suppliers to adhere to the guidelines underscored by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Similarly embodying the jeweller&rsquo;s advocacy of ethical jewellery and its heritage is the Parhelia ring. Here, responsibly sourced sapphire cabochon, emeralds, black lacquer and diamonds adorn the voluminous ring that spans three fingers. The sapphires and emeralds combo especially recalls the &ldquo;peacock motif&rdquo; colour palette that was created at the turn of the 20th century by Louis Cartier. As an ultimate act of refinement, the motif can now be detached and worn as a brooch.

The duality of Parhelia speaks for Cartier&rsquo;s storied craftsmanship and is only one of the many highlights of the new line. The Alaxoa necklace, in particular, is a technical marvel in its own right as it sees the maison making full use of its threading technique&mdash;an expertise that involves the threading of the stones on a wire to form strands and fringes before the strands are linked together by tiny metal bridges, maintaining a fan shape while allowing the fringes to remain mobile.
Radiating intimate warmth as it wraps around the neck, the precious novelty owes its aesthetical allure to the captivating texture and chromatic intensity of the gemstones.
The artisan jewellers at work have carefully selected the emeralds according to their colour and diameter, and subsequently taken into consideration the harmony, symmetry and their correct placement in the composition, delivering one more centrepiece for Sixi&egrave;me Sens par Cartier.
