For our April '19 issue cover story, we have Korean model Bomi Youn rocking Riccardo Tisci's first Burberry collection in the streets of Seoul.

This Spring/Summer 2019 marks&nbsp;Riccardo Tisci&#39;s first ever&nbsp;Burberry collection as its new chief&nbsp;creative officer, and what better way to welcome the new Burberry than having one of his favourite new faces, Bomi Youn to animate his first collection on the cover of our April 2019 issue.

Riccardo Tisci took over Burberry with a lofty new mission in mind. He wanted to expand the language of the storied English house to speak to people across all generations, ages and lifestyles.

He aimed to offer pieces that will entice everyone from princesses to punks; coveted by both posh ladies and gentlemen of Sloane Street and Savile Row, and the streetwear superfans that stake out SoHo on Supreme drop days. Burberry for all, from aristos in their country houses to art kids raving in a basement club.

Tisci opened with the most Burberry piece of all &mdash; a trenchcoat, pared back to its barest, purest form and then given a Tisci twist: cinched at the waist with thick, industrial elastic. Then came less pared-back versions&mdash;luxurious ones panelled with croc, inset with silk scarves, trimmed with gold chains or embellished with pearls and feathers.

There were also tailored three-piece suits, slim structured blazers, pleated skirts, and pussy-bow blouses. So far, so sophisticated. But a sense of subversion&mdash;a Tisci hallmark&mdash;rippled underneath the polish in the form of prim knee-length skirts cut in leathers and patent.

For the street-style and social set, Tisci proposed eye-catchers and statement-makers in the form of photo-printed denims, babydoll dresses, cow prints and cow slogans, deer prints and Bambi slogans, plus a smattering of boudoir lace and bondage buckles.

It&rsquo;s this mix of opposing elements&mdash;hard and soft, the salon and the street, tradition and innovation, respect and irreverence&mdash;that gives Tisci&rsquo;s Burberry its allure. The same can be said for Bomi Youn, who has an otherworldly quality like a manga character brought to life but also exudes girl-next-door relatability and appeal.

S/S &#39;19 is her first runway season and already she&rsquo;s ticked off almost all the boxes on the cool-girl designer list. In addition to Burberry, she also walked in the Loewe, Chloe, Paco Rabanne, JW Anderson and Simone Rocha shows. She also scored big with establishment names, landing on the runways of Dior, Fendi and Moschino.

Another coup came in Pre-Fall &rsquo;19 when she opened the one-off Valentino show in Tokyo. For the recent A/W &rsquo;19 shows last month, she reprised most of her S/S &rsquo;19 catwalk turns and added a significant one to her cap; Youn is now a Prada girl, with appearances at both Prada and Miu Miu.

With industry heavyweights like Prada and Tisci in her corner, Youn is definitely one to watch.
