Shot in New York by photographer Hao Zeng and styled by our Fashion Director Jeffrey Yan, this issue sees our two models taking on the streets of New York &ndash; the Marc Jacobs way.

And our Marc Jacobs Grunge adventure starts now!

In 1993, grunge was the biggest thing in music, and Kurt and Courtney were the First Couple of the Seattle scene. Their style &ndash; a haphazard jumble of thrift store finds &ndash; so inspired Marc Jacobs he sent it down the Perry Ellis runway on a supermodel cast.

Today, taking subcultural codes from sidewalk to catwalk wouldn&rsquo;t even raise a brow but back then it caused a furore.

Once More, With Feeling

Who was this upstart, passing off real clothes that real people wear on the streets as high fashion?

The critics would end up eating their words because the dam had been broken; from then on, the streets and what cool young people wear on those streets will be a constant influence on fashion.

The industry until then had been largely fuelled by the fantasies of the privileged few. Jacobs proved that the rawness of youth resonates.

But today, with everyone embracing athleisure and ironic ugliness, Jacobs is once again serving up full-on campy fashion fantasy.

The pair of girls we&rsquo;ve assembled for this shoot embody the same kind of playful, fearless versatility. Najiyah can go from walking ultra-glamorous haute couture shows for Dior and Schiaparelli, to playing the effortless all-American girl at Tory Burch and Diane von Furstenberg.

Her adaptability allows her to shine in front of the camera &ndash; Najiyah has racked up editorials for Interview, 10 Magazine, Wonderland and multiple editions of L&rsquo;Officiel.

Where Najiyah comes off like a livewire of energy, Ange-Marie exudes a more languid kind of serenity. That is, until she steps on set and fully inhabits the character she&rsquo;s playing, whether it&rsquo;s Adam Selman bad girl or Oscar de la Renta uptown lady.

The Parisian&rsquo;s looks &ndash; sweetness with an edge, defying any easy geographic/ethnic categorisation &ndash; have made her something of a go-to for progressive, provocative labels like Pyer Moss, Marc Jacobs Beauty and Miu Miu.
