UNIQLO marked its 20th anniversary in the U.S. with a special event at New York&rsquo;s MoMA during New York Fashion Week, with Cate Blanchett's first appearance as Global Ambassador, KAWS announced as Artist in Residence, and more.

At the height of New York Fashion Week, UNIQLO staged a celebration not of fleeting trends, but of enduring design. The Museum of Modern Art played host to &ldquo;The Art and Science of LifeWear&rdquo; &mdash; a spectacular exhibition and event marking two decades of the Japanese retailer&rsquo;s presence in the United States.
Presented in partnership with Toray, UNIQLO&rsquo;s longtime technology collaborator, the evening explored the ingenuity and partnerships that have defined LifeWear. Guests were welcomed into a narrative where engineering meets elegance, where art collides with utility.

The night also carried star power. Cate Blanchett, newly appointed Global Brand Ambassador, made her first public appearance in the role, joining Roger Federer for a panel led by UNIQLO Creative Director Clare Waight Keller. The conversation flowed between personal style and global purpose.
Blanchett distilled the brand&rsquo;s ethos with characteristic clarity: &ldquo;It shouldn&rsquo;t be a luxury to have good quality, well-made clothes. I think that&rsquo;s in the DNA of the UNIQLO brand.&rdquo;

Then came the night&rsquo;s surprise: contemporary artist KAWS was announced as UNIQLO&rsquo;s first-ever Artist in Residence, cementing the brand&rsquo;s cultural resonance at the crossroads of art and apparel.
Interactive installations punctuated the celebration. Technology For All traced the innovations born from UNIQLO&rsquo;s alliance with Toray. Art For All extended the retailer&rsquo;s ongoing dialogue with MoMA, while Heart For All underscored the company&rsquo;s social mission&mdash;making clothing that serves not only the wearer but communities worldwide.

What emerged was not a spectacle of fashion, but a manifesto: LifeWear as a philosophy that elevates the everyday. For its 20th year in America, UNIQLO offered a vision of clothing as both art and science&mdash;intelligent, democratic, and designed to endure.
