Does the announcement mark troubled waters for the two-year-old menswear week? 

After only two years, New York Fashion Week: Men&rsquo;s might just be eliminated <a href="https://fashionista.com/2017/12/new-york-fashion-week-schedule-days-fall-2018">CFDA</a> confirms the merge of menswear and womenswear shows into a&nbsp;10-day event this coming February 2018,&nbsp;<a href="http://wwd.com/fashion-news/designer-luxury/new-york-fashion-week-in-february-will-be-a-10-day-affair-11071832/">WWD</a> reports.

Starting on 5th February to 14th February 2018, the newly-merged New York Fashion Week will see all major players of New York fashion joining together inside the hectic and fabulous affair.

The announcement follows recent news that both Thom Browne and Proenza Schouler&nbsp;will be moving their shows to Paris.

Recent US transplant Raf Simons is still expected to show both his eponymous menswear line and Calvin Klein. Hugo Boss, Perry Ellis, and Todd Snyder are also expected to show during the menswear dates.

A little recap on New York Fashion Week: Men&#39;s: In 2015, the CFDA announced that New York would be getting its own dedicated fashion week for menswear, splitting from the womenswear calendar, and better aligning with international presentations in London, Milan, Paris, and Pitti Uomo.

Losing power players though presents a difficult obstacle, one that sees the lack of editors, buyers,&nbsp;and public interests, which could result in thinner sponsorships.

As magazine budgets dwindle, it&#39;s natural that so too would attendance. Combining the two weeks makes things easier and more financially wise for both parties.

&nbsp;After all, fashion is a business. CFDA vice president of marketing Mark Beckham says the association hopes to piggyback off its well-known womenswear week to boost interest: &ldquo;By having the men&#39;s shows adjacent to women&#39;s, we hope we will have a strong showing for NYFW,&rdquo; he tells WWD.
