Go big or go home with Marc Jacobs Fall 2019

Marc Jacobs goes pure and intimate for its Fall 2019 show.

Marc Jacobs returned to his exploration in exaggerated proportions with his Fall 2019 collection.

Notorious for cloth coats and capes, shredded tulle dresses, A-line skirts and Prince of Wales pantsuits, Jacobs circled back this season with similar designs, now elevated in terms of newer materials and overemphasized silhouettes.

We saw old and new faces walking the runway — Karlie Kloss, Christina Kruse, Liu Wen and the return of Christy Turlington Burns, no less — wearing hats designed by Stephen Jones, along with mixed prints, billowing capes, and extravagant feather party dresses.

Seated in the front row, taking in all of the action, were icons like Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington, as well as Sofia Coppola and Anna Sui. The show took on an intimate feel, only hosting 180 spectators, and the models moved slowly, allowing the guests to fully absorb the gravity of each look.

It felt tender—bittersweet almost—as Jacobs conjured up a sense of déjà vu within us all, serving looks that we had been previously acquainted with, but that have undergone major makeovers, feeling shiny and new again.

And here are some of the stars at the show:
