The legendary designer has passed away last weekend in Paris after a three-week battle with COVID-19.

Celebrated for his legendary works at the house of Lanvin for 14 years and much-hyped for his new AZ Factory with&nbsp;Richemont, the iconic fashion designer Alber Elbaz has passed away in Paris after a three-week-long battle with COVID-19. He was 59 years old.

The news was confirmed from his business partner, Richemont founder and chairman Johann Rupert, who said, in an official statement,&nbsp;&ldquo;It was with shock and enormous sadness that I heard about Alber&#39;s sudden death. I have always been driven by his intelligence, sensitivity, generosity and unbridled creativity. He was a man of exceptional warmth and talent, and his unique vision, sense of beauty and empathy left an indelible impression.

&quot;I have lost not only a colleague but a beloved friend. Alber had a richly deserved reputation as one of the industry&rsquo;s brightest and most beloved figures. I was always taken by his intelligence, sensitivity, generosity and unbridled creativity. He was a man of exceptional warmth and talent, and his singular vision, sense of beauty and empathy leave an indelible impression.&quot;

Alber Elbaz started making his name known when he joined Lanvin in year 2001 and he stayed with the fashion house to create an illustrious portfolio of work until 2015.&nbsp;His design revolutionised the French brand, making it more contemporary and one of the most sought-after Parisian couture house.&nbsp;

After a few years of collaborating with other brands, the designer had finally announced his return with AZ Factory, a joint venture with Richemont group who owns Cartier, Van Cleef &amp; Arpels and more, during the last physical&nbsp;Haute Couture Week in Paris.

A legend in his own right, Alber Elbaz&#39;s passing is truly a loss for the creative and fashion industry.

Rest in peace, Alber. You will always be remembered.
