A constant inspiration for Kim Jones, his first Dior Men Pre-Fall collection takes a cue from Japan and its robotic ways.

Marrying utilitarianism and luxury is no easy feat and&nbsp;when Kim Jones centres the Dior Men&nbsp;Pre-Fall 2019 collection around sensuous tailoring and more technical fabrics, we take note.

Currently, in his second year in the role, Kim marked two other first for the brand: staging the show in Tokyo, Japan and debuting his first Dior Men Pre-Fall collection.

The collection was riddled with cultural references to Japan&rsquo;s fashion legacy and contemporary landscape &ndash; more prominently its futuristic robotic cultural takes.

Pieces were riddled with Dior material mainstays, such as powder pinks and woollen houndstooth patterns. Coats and open front blazers sans-lapel pay homage to the traditional Japanese kimono, while also riffing on the structured shoulder of the western approach to suiting.

The set&rsquo;s centrepiece, featuring a massive, metallic female figure, was the work of Japanese contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama. Japanese culture&rsquo;s many facets have long inspired the fashion pack and Kim Jones, in particular, has always been infatuated with the nation.

As for how the capital city will continue to inform and inspire global fashion, only time will tell. And before we sign off, let&#39;s take a look at all the stellar stars on the front row including Kate Moss, David Beckham, Eason Chan, Nam Joo Hyuk and Ezra Miller.
