Bringing joy and excitement back to the runway, with plenty of classic American glamour, Michael Kors wants you to be happy, bright and filled with love for Spring 2020.

Held inside Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn Navy Yard, Michael Kors transformed the space into a makeshift green park where trees lined up to form his Spring/Summer 2020 runway show &ndash; one that was accompanied by the&nbsp;Young People&#39;s Chorus of New York City.

His message to us as we entered the space was to be positive, optimistic and happy &mdash; what the house of Michael Kors has always symbolised. And within this ample and bright space, the chorus performed Don McLean and Simon &amp; Garfunkel&rsquo;s classic hits as the models entered the stage&mdash;an uplifting touch that got all the guests bopping with delight.

&ldquo;It&rsquo;s about what&rsquo;s happening in the world. Everyone in the world whom I know now is fascinated with having their DNA tested. My husband and I did ours and when we got it back, I realised that I didn&rsquo;t really know anything about my family even though I grew up in New York,&rdquo; said Michael Kors.

&ldquo;My great-grandmother first arrived in America when she was 14 years old by herself from Poland with 10 dollars in her pocket. She originally lived in downtown Manhattan, and her dream was to come to Brooklyn, which was her Shangri La.

&ldquo;That&rsquo;s why we decided to have a show here this season. I thought about the idea of optimism, and how she thought anything was possible, from no education, background nor money, to starting a business, raising a family, and achieving her dreams of coming to Brooklyn,&rdquo; said the American designer who recounted the story to us when we went backstage to meet him after his spectacular Spring/Summer 2020 show.

&ldquo;I am a native New Yorker and I wanted this show to highlight the strength, optimism and can-do attitude of our city. The collection explores the balance of pragmatism, charm, power and romance that is at the core of American fashion. It is a celebration of the diversity of American style and beauty,&rdquo; Kors added.

Through his diverse cast of models which included Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Nathan Westling, Kors&rsquo; vision for the season highlights his signature flair for strong tailoring in a collective of &rsquo;40s silhouettes, sharp military detailing and that classic glamour he always has in his shows. In its entirety the collection&rsquo;s huge focus is on the prep look, but with a twist of punk, which becomes a pleasant fashion surprise to bring that strong independent woman out of you.

His last words to us before we bade goodbye were: &ldquo;Beauty is a mosaic today. To me, regardless of who you are, how old you are, what size you are, what height you are, my job is to make you feel your best.&rdquo;
