ICYMI: the brand has launched its latest flagship smartwatch.

These days, it&rsquo;s impossible to go anywhere without seeing someone sporting some form of wearable technology on their wrist. But amidst this ubiquitous trend, have you ever stopped to ponder: what truly distinguishes a great smartwatch from the rest?
Last month, Oppo unveiled its latest smartwatch, dubbed the Oppo Watch X, via a grand launch event in Bangkok, and we were flown down for a first-hand look at the brand&rsquo;s new flagship smart timepiece. A personal trainer, health manager and lifestyle tracker rolled into one, the watch is a trusted companion that will elevate every moment in one&rsquo;s life. &ldquo;The Oppo watch is the best of the best&rdquo;, Oppo&rsquo;s product manager Lubia Zhu proudly states during his presentation.

Firstly, its substantial 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a 326 PPI resolution and up to 60Hz refresh rate that&rsquo;s protected by a 2.5D sapphire crystal cover. The stainless steel chassis adds a touch of shine. But the noteworthy detail lies in the MIL-STD-810H US military standard that certifies its high durability, the IP68 rating for dust resistance and 5ATM water resistance.&nbsp;
When it comes to its functions, at first glance, the Wear OS by Google interface, the NFC connectivity and the 100 hours of battery life may be impressive but not exactly groundbreaking, but wear it during your workout and you&rsquo;ll comprehend its charm. Making accuracy a priority, the Oppo Watch X features dual-frequency GPS that can receive L1 and L5 signals, which improves the precision and reliability of positioning when running, cycling, hiking and more.&nbsp;

Aside from being able to smartly detect different activities including walking, running, cycling, swimming, or even using a rowing machine, the watch is also designed to take one&rsquo;s game to the next level. For running enthusiasts, the timepiece has a running posture recognition, and for the first time, a dedicated badminton mode is developed in-house to collect specialist data to help users analyse their explosiveness, activity, endurance, confrontation and offence, and adjust their swing speed and strength. An array of interactive stations at the launch event &mdash; assault bikes, badminton, rowing machines and rope skipping allowed us to put it to the test, and safe to say, we were impressed.
Aside from impressive fitness features, the Oppo Watch X is also designed to better manage one&rsquo;s everyday health. Its full-scenario sleep monitoring feature tracks one&rsquo;s sleep behaviour, complete with an in-depth weekly report that enables users to monitor their sleep score. Its 8-channel heart rate sensor and a 16-channel blood oxygen sensor are used to monitor heart rates and blood oxygen saturation levels, alongside stress levels by calculating heart rate variability (HRV).&nbsp;

Compatible with the Health app and Health Connect by Android and powered with Wear OS, the Watch X is definitely a great pick for non-iOS users. For day-to-day usage, some of the new functions include the transit directions on Google Maps for Wear OS enabling users to navigate public transportation with ease, and the Google Wallet passes that let one manage boarding passes and event tickets directly via your watch.

Available in Mars Brown and Platinum Black, the Oppo Watch X is priced at RM1,399. Purchase it online or in stores.
