While we wait for all the red carpet glamour and film reviews of the 71st Cannes Film Festival, let's take a look at the most anticipated movies showing this year. 

Under the Silver Lake

Andrew Garfield returns to the screen following his appearance in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tonyawards.com/en_US/nominees/shows/2018-02-10_angels_in_america.html" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">Tony Awards</a>-nominated Broadway play&nbsp;Angels in America.&nbsp;

Directed by David Robert Mitchell, Garfield takes on the role of an obsessed neighbour looking for the missing mysterious girl next door.

Under the Silver Lake is set to release June 22.&nbsp;

Whitney

The late legendary actress and singer&nbsp;Whitney Houston&nbsp;deserves more than just one documentary. Director Kevin Macdonald conducted 70 interviews including Kevin Costner, her Bodyguard costar.

Whitney&nbsp;arrives on&nbsp;July 6 and has the <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/estate-approved-whitney-houston-documentary-out-this-summer-w517731" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">support</a>&nbsp;of Houston&#39;s family (unlike the previous documentary).&nbsp;

BlackKklansman

We have a feeling this movie is going to get a nod from the Oscars next year. Spike Lee and (wait for it) Jordan Peele have teamed up to create a based-on-true-story&nbsp;movie about a black police officer who infiltrated the Ku&nbsp;Klux Klan.

And that&#39;s not it.&nbsp;BlackKklansman&nbsp;will star John David Washington, a.k.a. Denzel Washington&#39;s son. Take that in,&nbsp;folks.&nbsp;

The House That Jack Built

Danish film director Lars von Trier has been <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/19/movies/cannes-festival-lars-von-trier-hitler-ban.html" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">banned</a> from Cannes for quite some time now, due to his&nbsp;Hiter comments back in 2011. But this year, he will return with his&nbsp;latest thriller film starring Uma Thurman and Matt Dillon.&nbsp;

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Though the Star Wars franchise doesn&#39;t scream indie movie, Disney has gone to lengths for the press of&nbsp;Solo:&nbsp;A Star Wars Story. Hitting theatres on May 25, the now Disney movie stars Alden Enrenreich as Han Solo, alongside&nbsp;Game of Thrones&#39;s&nbsp;Emilia Clarke&nbsp;and Donald Glover.&nbsp;
